Nearly every project begins with a topographic design survey, which provides the basis for site and building design. It is critical to the overall project
that the design topographic mapping be accurate and complete so all of the design work is based on an accurate representation of the existing property
boundaries, topography, and site conditions. Without the topographic survey data, the design cannot proceed; therefore, it is imperitive the initial
survey work be done in a timely manner in order to allow the design team to meet schedules. Timeliness is also crucial during the construction staking
process in order to facilitate the contractor's schedule, and accuracy with the staking layout of building and site features is key to being able to
maintain the project budget and schedule. Survey work involving land use processes such as Partitions, Subdivisions, and condominium platting require a
thorough understanding of survey law and local codes to ensure an accurate submittal to the reviewing agencies and no delay in the review and recording
processes.
Balzhiser & Hubbard Engineers provides the full range of surveying services: partitions, subdivisions, boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, condominium
platting, design topographic surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys. In addition to the 30-plus years of experience and knowledge of our
survey department leader, what distinguishes us in this work is our understanding of the needs of the owner and design team and the ability with our
multiple field crews to execute our survey work in a timely manner. We understand the importance of accurate representation of the existing conditions,
developing our drawings in a drafting style and layering convention that allows the various disciplines on the design team to manipulate the data for
their use without having to recreate information. Expertise with layout calculations, responsiveness, and sufficient manpower allow us to provide
accurate, thorough, and timely construction staking. Good communication skills embodied by the survey department staff ensures coordination between
our in-house disciplines, outside design team members, and the contractor.
