Completion Date: September 2001
Services provided by Balzhiser & Hubbard Engineers:
Civil Engineering, Inspection, and Surveying (Design and Construction)
R Street was developed in association with the construction of the new high school in Cottage Grove. The new roadway extended the existing R Street
2,065 linear feet along the back side of the school to provide connectivity between two local streets and access to the school, and to provide a looped
public water system. The street section included two travel lanes, a median strip, and a combination bike path / sidewalk. Storm drain improvements
included development of a roadside swale, creek culvert crossing, and a conventional piped storm drain system. All public street drainage was eventually
routed through a new, 1,800 linear foot public storm drain pipe to discharge to the Coast Fork of the Willamette River. The project involved a joint
permit application (JPA) approval for the mitigation of wetlands and discharge to the river.
