Residence halls present a unique challenge for design professionals as they typically have many (sometimes seemingly conflicting) requirements. They
need to be very durable and maintainable and attractive. Systems need to be efficient, flexible in operation, reliable, and maintainable. All while
staying within typically very tight economic constraints. Balzhiser & Hubbard Engineers has been providing our diverse range of engineering services
for University housing projects for many years. Projects have ranged from entirely new residence halls to full renovations of residence halls that were
originally constructed in the 1920's. We also have a broad range of experience with partial renovations and retrofits for residence halls and related
dining facilities including kitchen/dining remodels, systems replacement, elevator upgrades, fire systems and water supply retrofits, energy upgrades,
and piping systems rehabilitation. The hallmarks of our designs include energy efficiency, appropriateness, cost effectiveness, and durability /
maintainability.
